FAQs

Answers to some frequently asked questions.

1. Does The Priory loan its objects to schools?

No. We aim to encourage visits outside the classroom and to experience our medieval Priory undercroft.

2. Where can we park?

No parking is available on site.

3. How do we get to the Priory?

Please refer to the map and directions which can be downloaded on the right hand side.

4. Does The Priory offer bespoke sessions?

The learning sessions are based around our handling objects and are site-specific so are therefore restricted in topic. If you have a particular request please contact a member of the team to discuss your options.

5. How much does it cost to bring a school group?

At present the Priory school visits remain free of charge, but as it is one of three sites this is subject to change.  Please note any booked visits would be honoured.

6. Is there somewhere for our staff to get refreshments? There is no café on site and it is requested that staff remain with pupils throughout your visit, which will encourage follow up activities back at school.

7. Is there a shop?

Schools are more than welcome to use our gift shop. Please note this should be allocated as extra time to your planned/booked visit.

8. Is there a space where my class can have lunch?

It is usually possible to provide a space where children can eat lunch if you specify when booking your visit. On most occasions this will be in the Visitor Centre or outside in the Priory Gardens (weather permitting). This is only advisable for a class of no more than 30 children. Where a linked visit is booked with the Herbert, there are rooms which can be booked with prior arrangement for lunch.
