Building Detectives

Discover Tudor buildings within a short walk of the Priory Visitor Centre.

Utilising the wonderful buildings within a short walk of the Visitor Centre, your pupils will explore examples of timber-framed decoration, think about why Tudor windows were so small and see an amazing jetty.  This teacher-led activity is a great opportunity to increase outside the classroom learning and observational drawing skills.

 Learning outcomes

Through attending this session your children will build on the following skills:

  • Improved speaking and listening skills, through group discussion and interaction of historic objects.
  • A better understanding of chronology and improved knowledge and understanding of characteristic features of the period, societies and experiences.
  • Improved knowledge and understanding of relevant materials.
  • Improved ability to classify materials.
  • Developing the use of historical enquiry through a range of sources.
