Tudor: Rich and Poor

Handle objects and try on costumes from the Tudor period.


Suitable for KS2

Timing: 45 mins

Cost: FREE

An opportunity for pupils to dress up in replica Tudor costume and encourage them to examine the differences between rich and poor Tudor clothing. Using our handling collection they will investigate a range of household items, working out their use and whether they were used by rich or poor people.

Learning outcomes

Through attending this session your children will build on the following skills:

  • Improved speaking and listening skills, through group discussion and interaction of historic objects.
  • A better understanding of chronology and improved knowledge and understanding of characteristic features of the period, societies and experiences.
  • Improved knowledge and understanding of relevant materials.

  • Developing the use of historical enquiry through a range of sources.
